Too Good To Stay Inside
Now don’t be jealous….. but, I think today’s weather in Tampa was what one might call the epitome of perfection.

A high of 73, blue skies as far as the eye could see, and a big beautiful sun – I was NOT staying inside on a day like today!
I am happy to report the new trail run Derek had promised to take me to this morning was worth ‘sleeping in’ for.

The trail was just outside of Tampa and stretches to a large 28 mile loop into the wilderness, but we just ran 4.

I loved how cute the map was!

This was Derek’s first trail run. I think he liked it.

You’ll never guess where we headed next!

How could we not take advantage of this perfect beach weather?

This is why I live in Florida!

On the way to the beach we stopped at Publix to pick up some subs and fresh fruit to enjoy by the water.

I got the 6 in veggie sub on multrigrain bread with provolone cheese, spicy mustard, and all the trimmings.

Derek and I split a bowl of apple slices, grapes, and strawberries.

After I finished lunch, I passed out the heck out. Derek claims he always knows I’m asleep when my mouth is hanging open and he said my mouth was hanging open for a good hour on that beach today.
I was feeling a little snacky when I returned to the land of the living and dug into the Goldfish we brought with us.

I started combining the handfuls of pretzels and chocolate grahams. Such a tasty combination!

For dinner Derek took my to one of his favorite Greek restaurants in Tarpon Springs for some authentic Greek food and treats.

We did sit down to eat until after 8:00 and by that point I was ready to eat my arm off. As soon as the server dropped the bread basket down, I immediately grabbed a piece and gobbled it up.

We started with a Greek Salad that had all the traditional toppings, but also included potato salad, beets, and chickpeas.

The salad was great! I loved all the extras, especially the potato salad!
Derek was raving the about the Greek Chow Mein the restaurant is famous for, but I could not get on board with it. I did steal a bite of Derek’s and though I thought it was good, I was glad I had went with my gut instinct and not ordered it.

Instead I ordered the chicken platter which came with more greek salad, rice pilaf, pitas, and seasoned chicken with tomato sauce.

It was good! I ate about half and gave the rest to Derek in a doggie bag so he could enjoy it for lunch at work on Monday.
I didn’t want to fill up at dinner because Derek had promised me Greek pastries for after we paid our bill!

I wanted it all, but managed to walk away from the counter with a piece of chocolate baklava.

Derek got a chocolate kok (which we both felt embarrassed to order because we weren’t quite sure how to pronounce kok)

I had a bite and it was good, but not as good as my baklava.

It’s couch cuddling time!
Don’t forget to set your clocks one hour ahead tonight!
Good Night!

I love that you have converted Derek to a running junkie. I mean, finding trails and all…
Jealous of your beachy weather (and access to a beach!!) It rained all day long here. Boo.
You were in my hometown! And I love that bakery- the Napoleon cake is my favorite! Glad you had such a good time!

I haven’t tried trail running but hope to try it again soon – I think I have found a trail close to my apartment.
SO jealous of your weather. It was cold and rainy here today…
I can’t begin to say how jealous of your day I am. The wind and rain here is so bad I can’t fall asleep
The beach all year round.. Love Florida.

I’m totally jealous of your day.
And your food.
Yummmmm, food looks delicious!
The weather does too. Lucky for you that summer is approaching, it’s the beginnings of Winter here in New Zealand!
LOL – I would have just ran with it and asked for the BIGGEST kok in the case! I’m so impressed at how Derek has picked up running – way to go!
I seriously need to move to Florida…sigh! The Greek food looks great – esp the chocolate baklava!
You’re killing me. Here is still snow and really really cold
I want warmer weather.
The food looks awesome!
Great dinner too, baklava is delicious
i am TOO jealous of that gorgeous weather!! and of your stomach! xx
Wow! Super jealous of your whole day!! Great Greek food and chocolate baklava sounds delishhh:)
Sorry, but I can’t help but be extremely jealous of that beautiful weather, although spring is arriving here in MN too. I am just finishing spring break week and your pics make me think I should’ve gone to visit my relatives in Sarasota, FL. My favorite thing to do there is go to Publix, get a sub and fruit, and relax on the beach. I will just live vicariously through you
I am so jealous of your weather! Ours sucks this weekend!
I’m so jealous that you have beach weather while we had sleet. :0(
But you meal looks divine.
Your pictures showed me that I should also live in Florida
beach weather is months away here…
Greek food is my favourite. I spent 5 days in Athens, Greece over Xmas and I had the best food in my whole life there. Fabulous!
So jealous of the weather and that really cool trail. I am a sucker for marketing—the map is too cute!
You look skinny! Have you lost weight since marathon training?
that weather looks wonderful! .. what a fun day!
Oh the beach! That’s awesome. I’m up in CHicago and I’m pretty sure even thinking about such things will make me freeze my booty off!
Yummm. I love greek food and baklava is just amazing!
Have a happy Sunday!
I giggled a little at the “kok” part
I have a friend who is Lebanese and “kok” is her dad’s favorite apparently lol. She told me that a few years ago, but I never knew what it was until now.
Of course soon after I LEAVE Florida it is like a bazillion degrees. Not fair, I say.
The weather looked so perfect!! It’s been rainy and yucky here in Louisville and I’m totally ready for some sunshine! And I’ve totally been counting down the months and days until our summer vacation to the beach and your picture makes me even more anxious for it to get here!!! Glad you had a fun trail run!
That’s our fave running trail.
I love Florida and the beach! We always take Publix subs for lunch, then stop at 7-11 on the way home for Slurpees mmm…
I CANNOT wait for beach weather!
I am so jealous of your beach weather! Looks like a great day
Oh man I wish I were still there!!! Love the kok, lol
what a gorgeous day! i suppose it makes up for all the ran you guys got earlier this week (i was in venice & it was NOT pleasant!)
you two had a fun-filled day! so jealous you got to
hang out at the beach. it’s been gross in my neck of the woods.
between snow and rain, it’s just been terrible! so i totally
envy the nice weather.
what a fun running trail!
Meghann, you look awfully skinny. I hope you are eating enough.
Meghann, I don’t think you look too skinny at all. You represent healthiness and moderation in everything and are a great role model. Obviously, by all the yummy food that was shown in this post, you ARE eating enough.
And I’ve got to admit I totally LOL’d at kok.
I cannot even tell you how jealous i am that you went to the beach this weekend! It has been raining for three days straight here in NYC
I love that you’re rocking the marathon necklace!
Your day looks fantastic! I love a good Publix sub at the beach! And you look fabulous in your bathing suit! Do you know of any good beginner trails in the Orlando area?
So I am super incredibly jealous of you!!!!
I really wish I lived in FL after hearing about day like that, i’d have to say. I’d kill for beach weather (and a beach to go with it haha)!
Great trail run! what fun!!!!! Followed by a beach picnic = perfect
I love your blog. I totally want to try trail running after seeing your pictures! And the desserts looked wonderful!
Would you mind sharing the name of that trail or at least which city it’s in? We’re moving to Dunedin in may so I’m stockpiling good running ideas already! You should run the Clearwater 15k on 4/10!
That looks like such a fun trail!
Arizona has sunny weather about 85% of the time, however we don’t have beaches like Florida! Or any beaches for that matter. >< So jealous!
Btw, all of your foodie pictures look sooooo yum!
WOOOW – amazing pics and eats, Meghann!
Seems like you´ve had a BLAST today… Beautiful weather!
Have a terrific week
The trail run looked like so much fun! yaya. Glad you had a great weekend!
So jealous of your beach trip. Right now the weather is telling me it’s going ot be 68 on Saturday… is that still too cold to throw on a bikini and get some sun?
Now I know you said not to be jealous but OMG I am SEETHING with jealousy over here!!
What an amazingly fun day and the pictures of the beach make my heart pitter pat. I just LOVE the beach. Summer, where are you!?!?!
