Mmm… soup!

I told you Split Pea Soup would be seen on the blog in the very near future. There’s something about this bowl of green mush that just makes me so happy.

Thanks to my Quick & East Split Pea Soup recipe I was able to make a quick batch of soup right after I got off of work.
I didn’t have any ham on hand, but I did have the Boccalone Salami from my Foodbuzz swag bag that I knew would be the perfect replacement.

The salami was the perfect salty addition to mushy soup.
Before

1.5 hours later

While the soup was simmering I got to work baking a batch of Pumpkin Cornbread (recipe found here).

I highly suggest you give this recipe a shot. It was a nice twist on the classic cornbread recipe.

This afternoon I had a bag of PopChips at work.

I have been diligently teaching Maddie how to play fetch for a few weeks now and this afternoon she finally grasped the concept!
Unfortunately when I tried to film her new talent she was more interested in the camera then fetching! Oh well. The video was still adorable and proved that Miss Maddie is a little camera diva.
Take a look for yourself! (If you are in google reader you need to click to the blog to see it)

Your soup is so thick it almost looks like guacamole!
Maddie’s a true star- she’s drawn to the camera! Olive has that same rope toy- even the colors are the same. I have to let you know that once they learn how to fetch it’s all they want to do. Olive has never been given people food so she doesn’t beg when you eat but she begs to play fetch all the time. Heed the warning.

Meh, Maddie’s too good for something as simple as “Fetch”. I assume that in her free time (maybe when you’re at work), she springs for more erudite pastimes like a good game of chess or doing the Sunday crossword puzzle.

Split pea soup is rapidly becoming one of my new favorites. I’m definitely putting that pumpkin cornbread on my to-try list this week. I should have all of the ingredients!
I’ve been meaning to tell you — CONGRATS on making it to the next round of the Good Mood Gig! Do you still need help with iMovie? I’m not positive on the voice over component, but I’ve used it for editing before and would be happy to give some general tips where I can!

That’s adorable! Maddie is so cute! I’m glad she mastered fetch though. My puppy will be a year on the 23rd, and she still hasn’t quite mastered it. She will either keep running past the toy, or she’ll bring it back but runs pasts you and won’t give it back right away. Then again, she had absolutely no training until she was about 5 months (she was abused until she was 3 months, and then we adopted her from the SPCA) but she was so scared, nervous, and hyper at first that it was nearly impossible to keep her attention to train her at anything. There are very, VERY few trainers in my area as well but she is slowly picking things up. She’ll give her paw to everyone except my boyfriend. For him, she rolls over for a belly rub!
This was quite a bit longer than I meant it to be! Oops!
