Still ‘Glo’-ing

October 12, 2009
by Meghann

Wow! What a weekend to recover from! After Halloween Horror Nights, Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival, and running the Race for the Taste 10k with Derek I am exhausted. Exhausted in a good way though. :)

This past weekend will go down in the memory books as one of my favorites of all time. Very busy, but soo much fun. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face.

Unfortunately, my perfect weekend came to an end this morning with the sound of my alarm signaling my return to reality. Such a sad morning.

I did some light Monday strength training and core work. I try to have my Monday’s focus on my arms because I feel like I neglect them every other day of the week.

A big refreshing bowl of cereal was on the menu for breakfast.

  • 1/2 cup Strawberry Trader Joe Os
  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter Puffins
  • 1/4 cup Good Run Cashew Granola
  • Plain Oikos
  • 1/2 Peach

This was the last of my Good Run Granola and Trader Joe Os. They will both be dearly missed. *sniff *sniff

Work this morning has been playing out in typical Monday fashion – playing catch up from the weekend while organizing for the impending week. Big exciting stuff.

Luckily  I had a very exciting mid-morning snack planned as a little Monday pick up.

Why Hello Beautiful!

IMG_3490

Angela of Oh She Glows and Glo Bakery fame was kind enough to send me a sampling of her ‘Glo’-ing collection to review for the blog.

I was lucky enough to sample the Classic Glo Bar via the Healthy Living Summit back in in August and had already fallen in love with her rich, chewy bars. The Awake Bar I tried today was another winner. As soon as I opened the wrapper I rich coffee aroma filled my senses. Though the coffee flavor was rich in aroma, it wasn’t as strong in flavor. Very subtle and very enjoyable.

Angela informed me that each Awake Bar contains approximately 15-20 mg of caffeine. Thanks to my low caffeine tolerance the bar gave me a great light buzz that perked me up for the rest of the morning. This would make a great afternoon pick me up snack :)

Thanks Angela for not only sending my some great samples, but finally opening up shipping to the U.S. I can’t wait to place orders of all my new favorites. The Awake Bar will certainly be on that list!

Lunch was another random bowl of deliciousness.

IMG_3502

  • Spinach
  • Homemade Coleslaw
  • Baked Tofu
  • Grapes
  • Tomato
  • Peanuts
  • Bottom of the Bag Pita Chip Crumbs

Not sure peanuts make the best nut toppers for salads. I think I will be sticking to pecans and walnuts from now on.

Time to get back to work!

I have some cubed tofu in my fridge that I don’t really know what to do with. How long do you usually bake yours for, what temp, etc? Thanks! Congrats to you and Derek on the 10K!

    Love it!
Do you have any suggestions for making tasty + filling salads? And how to pack them? I’m always so jealous of your scrumptious-looking creations! :) Maybe a salad meal 101?

Yay! Keep those reviews of the GloBakery coming! I have been wanting to try some of Angela’s stuff, but it is so expensive and you have to buy 10 bars (at least) to order. I hate to order that many without knowing how they taste or if I will like them!

  11. October 12, 2009 2:12 pm

I can’t wait for my bars to come in the mail, they all look so good! :)
